WordPress Formatting Shortcuts Formatting shortcuts aren't exactly keyboard shortcuts, but the result is pretty much the same and they can be quite useful as an alternative to some of the keyboard shortcuts above. Formatting shortcuts help you automatically add formatting to: Ordered or unordered lists Titles Block quotes Horizontal lines The main advantage of formatting shortcuts for things take email marketing service like lists and headings is that they don't require you to press as many keys simultaneously as the keyboard shortcuts above. Unlike the keyboard shortcuts above, you activate formatting shortcuts by actually typing something in the WordPress Editor. You must be using the Visual tab for these shortcuts to work. Here are the current formatting shortcuts. Note that you need to press the Space key or sometimes the Enter key after typing any of the shortcuts to apply the formatting : * – starts an unordered list 1. – starts an ordered list ## – Applies H2 format ### – Applies H3 formatting (continue the pattern to apply up to H6 formatting) > – creates a block quote — – creates a horizontal line
